North West Scavenger Hunt 2018


Last Saturday was the Annual Northwest Region scavenger hunt in Liverpool City Centre in aid of Shelterbox. Hundreds entered from Cub to Explorer age in Teams of 6 and spent over 4 hours going around trying to gain as many points they could from various tasks set them. Some sections from our district joined in the fun and had a great time.

St.George's Day 2018


It was our St.Georges parade and service yesterday and despite the chilly weather the District had a fantastic turn out....the parade went on for miles! On the way to the Church we were treated to a guard of honour from the fire brigade ( arranged by a Dad from 1st Tigers). During the church service lots of long service awards and Wood Badges were presented to our leaders ( well done Marjorie Kirk on her 50 years service!). Pack of the year was retained by the 58th Cubs so huge congratulations to them! One point behind was 1st Tiger Pack and in third position were the 48th Cubs.

58th Cubs win District Outdoor Competition 2018


It was our 101st District Outdoor Competition yesterday at Waterside Lodge and we were blessed with fantastic weather. Our Cub Packs entered a team of maximum 6 cubs who rotated round 20 minute bases competing in various skill and fun type activities which included ; First Aid, map work, archery, fire lighting, welly wanging, human hungry hippos, semaphore and pioneering. Congratulations go to the 58th cubs who came 1st with 61 points, the 48th cubs who were 2nd with 59 points and the 1st Tigers who came third with 55 points.

Southport success at the Great Escape 2018


Southport District had some fantastic results at this year's Great Escape Competition at Tawd Vale, with 1st Lockharts achieving First place and the 48th Scouts coming joint second! .....this was out of 75 teams!
Each team had to navigate around the campsite and take on various challenge bases. The Sun was out but at night it was very cold with -2 temperatures. This meant the Scouts earned a special Tawd Vale badge for camping in sub zero temperatures.

Young Person's Awards Day 2018


It was the County Young Persons Awards Day on Saturday where some of Southport's Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were presented with their Chief Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards by our County Commissioner. Afterwards they had an official photograph and enjoyed some refreshments and entertainment.
Huge Congratulations to all of our young people for achieving this award, which is the highest they can earn in each age Group. We are very proud of you all!
Many thanks to all of their leaders too for giving them the chance to achieve this and to County for organising a great day!

1st Southport Lockhart Troop sent 4 of their Scouts to represent Southport District at this weekend's County Patrol leaders Training weekend at Waddecar. Lots of activities and fun had by all, including a Night Hike.

Merseyside Scouts awarded the Freedom of the City


Well done to Clare (19th Cubs), Genevieve (Griffin Explorer Unit), Victoria (Spearhead Explorers) and Matt (40th Scout Troop) who represented our District at last night's Celebrations at Liverpool Town Hall, where Merseyside Scouts, Girl Guides and Boys Brigade were awarded the Freedom of the City!

1st Southport Panther Cubs win District Swimming Gala 2017


Huge Congratulations to 1st Southport Panther Pack who won this year's District Swimming Gala at Formby Pool on the 11th November. Ten of our Cub packs entered, competing in Straight, Relay and Fun races. Panthers also did the double by winning the separate Relay Cup as well, which is 100 years old this year, as the first time it was presented was in 1917 during the First World War. Well done also to the 62nd and 1st Tigers who came 2nd and 3rd overall.
