Wingding 100 2016

Wingdings is a Bi-Annual County Camp held at Tawd Vale, which is an amazing experience for the Cubs and Beavers that get to take part.Over 1000 Cubs spend the weekend there whilst hundred's of Beaver Scouts visit on the Saturday to take part in the activities. This year's event was made extra special as it coincided with the Cub Centenary year and the Beavers 30th Anniversary. Lots of Cub Packs and Beaver Colonies from Southport District were lucky enough to get places and take part in the adventure (the camping places sold out within a week of them going online). Activities included ; Canoeing, zip wire, backwoodmanship, crafts, inflatables, trampolines, climbing walls, air rifles, archery, axe throwing, a live farm, a cave bus, a mini fairground, circus skills, space hopper races, drumming sessions..... amongst others. The camp also got together as a whole to enjoy opening and closing ceremonies, a beach party, cinema, a fireworks display and a campfire.
This year's camp had a shaky start as, due to a massive thunderstorm, the River Tawd broke its banks and flooded the entrance drive preventing us from setting up camp on the Thursday night. After hastily re-arranging plans, taking afternoons off work, many of us set up on the Friday, before the Cubs arrived, and also whilst the Cubs were at the cinema that evening.
The rest of the camp went well, and even the rain that arrived at 3pm on the Sunday, just as everyone was leaving, couldn't dampen our spirits.
Really looking forward to Wingding 2018!
