Huge Congratulations to the 62nd Cub Pack who won last Saturday's District Swimming Gala for the third year in a row!
Well done to the 19th Cubs who came 2nd and the 1st 'Panther' Cubs who came 3rd. The teams had to compete in straight races, fun races and in a team relay race.

48th & 1st Panther Cubs win Indoor Competition

Congratulations to the 48th and 1st Southport Panther Cub Packs for coming joint 1st in last nights District Indoor Competition. Each Pack entered a team of 6 cubs which went round various bases taking on challenges based on an International Theme. The winning teams were closely followed by the 62nd and 58th Cub Packs. Well done to everyone who competed and to the leaders who organised the various bases.

Merseyside Scouts Officially Record Breakers

Its Official! Merseyside Scout Council have announced that the 1,238 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and Leaders that attended the Chief Scout visit at Festival Gardens last May and took part in the Longest Handshake Relay are officially World Record Holders. Well done to everyone that took part from Southport District!

Chariot Race - Bispham Hall 2013

Well done to 1st Southport Shackleton Troop whose A team came a respectable 13th out of 45 in this years Chariot Race at Bispham Hall. Having made it through the heats on the Saturday, they posted a time in the Sunday morning Finals of 10 mins and 24 seconds. Their B team came in 28th. The Chariot race has been taking place for 35 years and involves Scout teams from around the Country pushing their chariot (and rider) around a 'Cross-Country' style course which includes mud holes, ditches, wading through swimming pools, climbing over rope nets and negotiating uphill gradients at the end.

1st Southport Lockhart Troop wins County Cooking Competition

This weekend was a busy weekend for County competitions! The day after the Lord Derby Finals it was the County Cooking Competition. Again, 1st Southport Lockhart Troop and the 48th Troop represented Southport competing against 19 teams from other Districts in Merseyside. They were tasked with preparing, cooking and presenting a meal after being given the ingredients...a Rabbit and a Pigeon. The cooking had to be done Backwood's style i.e. in tin foil on an open campfire. Huge Congratulations to Lockhart Troop who won this competition overall!

County Lord Derby Finals

Many congratulations to 1st Southport Lockhart Troop who came second place on Saturday at the County Lord Derby Finals at Tawd Vale. The competition is based on various Scouting skills and the teams earn their place in the finals by competing at District level. They were competing alongside the 48th Scout Troop who were also representing Southport District. Well done everyone!

District Beaver Scout trip to Gulliver's World

On Sunday 29th September 43 excited Beavers enjoyed a day out at the Jamboree weekend for Cubs and Beavers at Gulliver’s World. For the end of September the weather was beautiful (unlike our last day out when we were all freezing) allowing all of us to go round the theme park without the need of a coat.

14th & 55th Southport Scout Group trip to Kandersteg International Scout centre, Switzerland

On the 20th of August at 5.30am twenty four scouts and eight leaders from the 14th & 55th Scout Groups set off on an adventure that would lead them to some of the most beautiful parts of Switzerland and give them insights into the world of tying your own shoe laces (some of the leaders found this difficult).

1st Southport International Trip to Switzerland

This August, 29 Scouts and leaders from 1st Southport (Ainsdale) Scout Group went on an International trip to Adelboden, Switzerland. It was a fun filled week with activities galore, wonderful weather and glorious views. Some of the activities they took part in included white water rafting, abseiling into deep gorges, abseiling off bridges, zip wiring, tobogganing, chocolate fondue tasting, visiting the International Scout centre at Kandersteg and a trip up to the highest viewing platform in Europe, on the Jungfrau (over 11,000ft above sea level).
