District Beaver Trip to Martin Mere

On a cold Mothering Sunday (yes I fouled up with the date) 41 Beavers from 4 colonies enjoyed a day out at Martin Mere taking part in a number of activities and affording those who haven’t already gained it, the opportunity to complete part of their Hikes Away Badge.

They were met by staff from Martin Mere and for the first hour they were split into two groups for two half hour sessions, one group playing games based on Wetland Creatures and the other group being given a talk on the Beaver Animal and then swapping over.

Beaver Scouts get Scientific

1st Southport (Ainsdale) Beavers recently enjoyed an exciting and enjoyable evening with Formby High Science Department. Head of Science Mr Belford and Science teacher Miss Atherton gave up their time to engage the Beavers with interesting experiments which challenged their concentration and junior scientist investigator skills. From creating rainbow filled test tubes to mind blowing explosions the Beavers experienced a fun filled time. The Beavers were also excited to learn that they have now gained the Beaver Scouts Experiment Activity badge after completing the set badge requirements.

48th Cub Pack Win Cub District Outdoor Competition

Congratulations to the 48th Cub Pack who won the District Outdoor Competition today. The various Cub Packs from Southport District braved the cold, rainy weather to test their Scouting skills on bases that included Compass, Semaphore, Mapping, Fire lighting, Tracking and pioneering amongst others. Well done also to the 19th Cub Pack who came 2nd and to the 58th who came third.

Lord Derby Challenge

This years District Lord Derby Competition took place today with Scout teams taking on a number of skilled based challenges. Congratulations to 1st Southport Lockhart Troop whose 'A' Team won the competition, closely followed by the 48th Scouts and in Third place Lockhart's 'B' Team. Well done who everyone that took part!

Scout Equinox Challenge - Delamere Forest

1st Southport Lockhart & Shackleton Scout Troops entered the Equinox Challenge this weekend. They spent the day in Delamere Forest using their Scouting skills to find hidden checkpoints whilst being hunted down by teams of Explorer Scouts. 350 Scouts were involved in the Challenge representing 27 Scout Groups from 13 Districts.
