Well done to 1st Southport's Shackleton Troop who took part in last weekend's Chariot Race Competition at Bispham Hall Scout Estate. The teams had to race their chariot and its rider, against the clock, across a course that included various obstacles and challenges (Average time 8mins). Competing against 46 other teams, Shackleton's A team achieved a fantastic 4th Place whilst their B team secured 23rd. On top of this they also brought home the Scouting Spirit Trophy. Excellent result!

72 Beaver Scouts from 6 colonies recently enjoyed a Water Fun Day at Waterside Lodge. The morning session was attended by the 19th, 48th and 55th colonies and the afternoon session was attended by the 2nd, 14th and 62nd colonies.

World Jamboree - Japan - 2015

Our four Scouts from Southport District, Sam, Adam, Robert and Max have just set off on their adventure to the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Kirara-hama, Japan.
They will be joining 30,000 Scouts from almost every country in the world who, for 16 days will live together, experience each other’s cultures, take part in activities and have an amazing adventure on the site in Yamaguchi City.
Part of the programme will include a visit to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park to mark the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings.

Radio City Tour

The team from Lockhart Troop, who won a tour up Radio City Tower during the recent Scavenger Hunt in Liverpool, claimed their prize last weekend. The tour included Radio City' s studios as well as seeing the views Liverpool has to offer. One of the Scouts was even interviewed by Radio City and this was broadcast the next day. Many thanks to Claire Simmo and the rest of the Radio City team for taking the time to do this.

County Cooking Competition 2015

A huge well done to 1st Southport Lockhart Troop who came a fantastic 2nd place at the County Cooking Competition on Sunday. The competition took place at Tawd Vale where our Scouts competed against 6 other teams from across the County. The team can be seen on the photograph practising for the Competition at their own Scout HQ beforehand.

1st Southport Panther Cubs win District Sports Day 2015

Last Saturday approximately 100 Cubs from all 10 Southport Cub Packs took part in the Annual Cub District Sports Day. Cubs took part in various track events including running,relay race, sack, obstacle, egg and spoon and the three legged race. As well as the track events there were also field events including cricket ball throwing and basket ball shooting. The Team Relay Race and Trophy was won by the 61st Southport. The overall competition was won by 1st Southport Panthers. Runners up were the 58th Southport and third place the 62nd Southport.

District Cub Water Fun Day 2015

Around 120 of our Cubs attended our Annual District Cub Water fun day yesterday (split over a morning and afternoon session). The cubs had a go at Kayaking, Canoeing, rafting, Bell boating, Kata Canoes and Sailing. The end of each session ending with a mass water battle between all the craft. Even our District Commissioner joined in and almost sank a boat! It was a fabulous day. Many thanks to all the leaders and instructors for helping to organise and run it.

61st Cubs win the 2015 District Dragonboat Competition

Well done to the 61st Cubs who won this years Dragon boat racing competition. They were closely followed by a combination of the 58th and 19th cub packs with the 2nd cub pack in 3rd place. Over 135 cubs took part forming 8 teams each having 2 races in tough gusty weather conditions. Well done to all the cubs that took part, the Explorer scouts who helped crew and put the buoyancy aids on, the helms, safety boat crews and all the other land based instructors / leaders.
